Social Networking Builds Credibility
from: Deb St. George - Character-References.comWhen you are first starting out within a new niche, it can be difficult to get your foot in the door within that niche. Social networking helps you build the credibility that is often necessary to make the sales and get the traffic that you need to stay afloat in the world of Internet marketing. There are several reasons why this is an effective means for gaining credibility. Some of those reasons are far more obvious than others. Consider the reasons below the next time you are weighing the potential benefits of social networking against the amount of work required to really make it work for you.
1) Display your knowledge of your niche. Social networking allows you to link to articles, blog posts, lenses, hubs, websites, and other efforts you have made along the way to get the word out about the products you have to offer. Make sure that the information you post on these various platforms is informative, easy to read, and factually accurate in order to ensure that you gain the credibility you are looking for rather than a label as someone who shares information that is less than accurate. In other words, make sure you deserve the credibility before you go looking for it.
2) Offer advice to those in need. There are many times when people turn to social networking for quick answers and fast solutions. Be there and be ready to provide answers to questions within your niche. The more questions you are able to answer, advice you are able to give, and people you are able to help along the way the more credible you will appear to those who happen to hear what you have to say through social networks.
3) Social networking gives you the opportunity to become a face behind the screen name rather than an anonymous entity. For many people online it is the opportunity to develop a relationship and learn for themselves what you are really like. This allows them to make their own minds up about whether or not they are willing to trust what you have to say. The more you contribute in a helpful and non-offensive manner the more likely it will be the you build the credibility you want within your niche. Remember that respect is part of the process and respect others online as much as you respect yourself and the niche you are promoting in your social networking efforts.
4) Answering the questions that are asked for you. Social networking is a bold new world. People are unafraid to ask for advice and opinions. When another person asks you a questions, particularly if it involves your niche, it is good form to answer that question with honesty and integrity. This alone will build up far more credibility over time than most article marketing efforts will ever do.
Social networking to build credibility is a highly effective tool for doing business online. The World Wide Web has made the world a much smaller place. Be sure you carve out your spot within it.
